the new normal

For the past 12 weeks The Bite has been devoted to crafting a list of independent restaurants and food businesses who pivoted to curbside pick-up and delivery while they were shut down to flatten the curve. The list expanded to groceries, coffee, cheese, pastry, bread, wine, spirits and beer, candy. The good news is the city is opening up, and relaxing some of the Covid19 restrictions we have all learned to live with. We will no longer post an updated list weekly but we will keep a version on our website to refer to.

The food community is not out of the woods yet. Some restaurants are opening with less than 50 per cent of their usual seating and adjusting menus and hours to suit this new normal. Others are choosing to stay with a take-out only concept.

We will continue to bring Bite readers news and highlights about the food scene weekly. And, we continue to applaud our food community’s efforts to stay in business doing what they love to do—feeding people. Keep ordering takeout from the small indie restos and keep supporting this vital part of our culture.
