lunar new year dumplings, more valentine’s dinners, metro theatre popcorn pop up, sweet treats festival in old strathcona, plus: beware the polar vortex

where to get delish dumplings for the lunar new year

They say eating dumplings at new year brings luck. Here’s where to get our fave dumplings.

Tang Bistro (8715 109 Street) offers dumplings in three delicious flavours—pork and chive, pork and cabbage and pork and celery. Add a tangy hot and sour soup base to your dumpling order for an extra $2. Or some yummy noodles. Order here.

Green Onion Cake Man (9132 118 Avenue) Order some green onion cakes along with your dumplings. After all, Sui To is the green onion cake man.

Mai Nguyen’s Gourmai Dumplings We love Mai’s delish dumplings, especially the traditional pork. I always have a package in my freezer. Available at Meuwly’s, Culina to Go and Acme Meats. Read more about Mai here.

Honest Dumplings (10552 114 Street) Their fun dumplings come in several different flavours like bacon and brussels sprouts and packs, like the Carnivore. Order here or visit the Uproot Store at 10552 114 Street.

Sadly, two of our best dumplings spots, the Shanghai Grill and Shanghai 456 are not answering the phone.

Experts always say drink warm liquids to stay warm. We agree! Think mulled wine, hot choc, and especially amaro caldo aka hot amaro. Check out the recipes here.
