chefs, bring your knives to knifewear
Knifewear (10820 82 Avenue, 587-521-2034, knifewear.com) is offering something special for local chefs and cooks experiencing hard times. “We just want them to know that we appreciate them and understand the difficulties they are facing,” says store manager Kris Armitage. Bring in one or two knives from your roll and they’ll sharpen it for free.
brunch at the botanic garden
Explore the pleasures of May at the U of A Botanic Garden with the Brunch Box, available every Thursday through Sunday (and Victoria Day) until May 27. The Brunch Box includes a delicious array of sweet and savoury brunch offerings (mini croissant, quiche, Greek salad, tarts, pastry, nuts), a non-alcoholic beverage and admission to the Garden. Children’s boxes are available too. There are fun add-ons too—smoked salmon with cream cheese and baguettes, Mimosa kits, picnic blankets, handmade personalized cards and flower bouquets.
