green & gold garden market opens this saturday
The all-volunteer Green & Gold Garden open this Saturday (11am-1pm). What’s available? Baby carrots, small garlic and scapes, parsley, kale, Swiss chard, spinach, lettuce, green onions and rhubarb. The garden is on the South Campus of the University of Alberta. Need directions? Visit here. All proceeds support the Tubahumurize project in Rwanda.

RGE RD long table dinners are a thing of beauty and this summer they are having three, starting with Riverbend Gardens on Sunday, July 9. You may know Riverbend from their stands at farmers’ markets or their CSA. They also occupy a stunning site in the northeast along the North Saskatchewan river. The family farm, now run by Aaron and Janelle Herbert, has been in this spot for three generations. “We do all of our own hand weeding, picking and packaging and we are committed to ecological and socially responsible farm practices,” says Janelle. RGE Rd and Riverbend will be a delicious collaboration—five courses with Canadian wine pairings and local brews. Tix: $200/p all in.
