bountiful market grand opening
Bountiful Farmers’ Market (3696 97 Street), the new European-style, indoor, multi-day farmers’ market is opening this Friday! Expect a cheerful celebration of local culture and food—chef demos, kids programming, cultural happenings, giveaways. There are around 110 vendors to start, including Ace Coffee, Arno’s, Blindman Brewing, Four Whistle Farms, The Happy Camel, Honest Dumplings, Irvings Farm Fresh, Little Bear Gelato, Meuwley’s, Riverbend Gardens and Strathcona Spirits. I’m looking forward to checking out the Mexican bakery called Pikante. Still hungry? There are seven commercial kitchens on site—Ukrainian, Loatian, Jamaican and Vietnamese—to eat there or takeaway. Plan to visit June 21-23, 9am-5pm, tons of parking.

Savour, Strathcona County’s annual local food and art event is on Sunday, July 7 from 4–8 pm at the Strathcona County Community Centre in Sherwood Park. Enjoy entertainment and activities throughout the evening. Meet local artists and artisans, buy some art or enjoy looking. Several food trucks and Sherwood Park restaurants will have booths on site. recipe of the week: breakfast asparagus
