Being able to order and pick-up makes January a little less bleak, food-wise. Uccellino offers same day pick-up of a selection of antipasti, such as the sublime whipped ricotta, or Parmigiano and leek arancini, or salads (try the toothsome savoy cabbage), crostini, a selection of pastas (frozen and ready to eat), chicken al mattone (cooked under a brick), dessert and wine, Wednesday to Sunday, pick-up between 4pm-8pm.

Restaurants Canada and Garland Canada invite chefs to submit an application and short video for a chance to earn a spot in the virtual Garland Canada Culinary Competition. The rules say that 50 per cent of the top spots will be held for female and BIPOC chefs and $10,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs. The competition is meant for newbies. Chefs who have won culinary competitions or have been on a TV show need not apply. Better hurry though— applications and videos are due January 15, at 11:59 PM EST. Click here for all the deets.
