Wine boycott, Valentine’s cheese and chocolate, Ruby Apron cooking classes

no more bc wine?

Premier Rachel Notley announced Tuesday that the Alberta government will immediately boycott all wines from British Columbia. The AGLC will halt shipments from BC and will attempt to control direct-to-consumer shipping as well. The move was in retaliation to the BC government’s call (stall?) for more research into the risk of spilling diluted bitumen on the West Coast.

We’re not quite sure what to think about this, but this is what Tony Stewart of Quails’ Gate Winery had to say: “Alberta is our second-largest market.” “We’ve got a very good network of customers in Alberta and if they felt this was necessary to get this point across to the B.C. government it could hurt us quite significantly.”

“What I should say is I think this whole matter could be resolved if the two premiers got together and had a glass of Quails’ Gate.”
