Peter Burgess, his wife Candace and son Ben know from personal experience the difference the Stollery Children’s Hospital makes in people’s lives—they lost daughter and sister Elan in 2007 to a sudden illness. They have made it their mission to raise funds for Stollery in recognition of the important work they do for children and families. Funds raised this year support Stollery’s Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team. “CISM positively impacts patient care and satisfaction,” says Candace. “When care givers are exposed to particularly difficult situations in carrying out their work, CISM becomes integral to supporting them.”
drink your pear, lime and coconut water
Scientists in Mumbai have discovered the ultimate hangover cure—pear juice, lime juice and coconut water, along with cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes. Their studies show that this combo is best to assist the enzymes that break down the acetaldehyde. Not sure if you have to consume with the drinks or if having the shot and the salad after works. Let’s hope so, as we know that coffee and burgers don’t work. Here’s the formula if you are in mood to experiment — 65 per cent pear juice, 25 per cent lime juice and 10 per cent coconut water.
