There will be Italian sausage and Messenger’s meats on a bun to buy, in support of Ronald McDonald House. At noon a wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano will be cracked, then filled with toothsome pasta. There are luxury cars and Vespas to ogle and what’s a party without music? DJ Kris King from 12:30 until 4pm. “Mr. Spinelli would be so proud to see how the little shop he built 62 years ago in Little Italy has grown,” says Joe Antonucci, Sherwood Park store manager. “I’m honoured to be part of a team that continues his legacy of service to our neighbours and sharing the Italian passion for food and family.”
The Italian Centre Shop is Alberta’s largest family-owned specialty food retailer and grocer with five locations in Edmonton, Calgary and Sherwood Park. Founded in 1959 by Frank Spinelli and led today by his daughter Teresa, it’s the place to go for local produce, hard-to-find specialty items, charcuterie, Alberta meats and great food and coffee.
