microplanes on sale at heart of the home

Microplane, the indispensable kitchen tool which makes short work of ginger, garlic and citrus zest, started life in the woodshop. Frustrated with her grater, Lorraine Lee (of Ottawa based Lee Valley Tools) used her husband’s Microplane to make Armenian orange cake. It was so effective, they changed the description in their catalogue and started a culinary revolution. That was in the mid-90’s. And now, they are on sale for 20 per cent off during August at Heart of the Home. Time to stock up, they make ideal gifts for the culinarily minded.
