kitchen party is october 1
Guests will be treated to some high-octane culinary competition at the Edmonton Great Kitchen Party, happening Thursday, October 1. Eight local chefs (previous champions all) will compete for the chance to go to the Canadian Culinary Championships (CCC) in Ottawa in January. The competition, celebrating its 20th year, has a new twist—each regional champ will be paired with a chef of distinction, a gold CCC winner from years past. Edmonton’s is chef Ryan O’Flynn, (2015 CCC gold medalist) now a chef/restaurateur in London, UK. No hints from the chefs on their dishes or their beverage pairing this year, as the judging is blind—another twist. We have two new judges too, Kaelin Whittaker (Awn Kitchen) and Kelsey Johnson (NAIT chef instructor). Woo hoo! Here’s to a fantastic competition of champions. Find all the deets and ticket info here.
Clockwise from left: chefs Scott Downey, The Butternut Tree/The Marc; Tyson Wright, Old Red Barn/Strada Bakery; Paul Shufelt, Workshop Eatery; Doreen Prei, Royal Mayfair Golf Club; Jason Greene, Braven; Blair Lebsack, RGE RD; Winnie Chen, Fu’s Repair Shop; Nathin Bye, St Joseph Culinary Arts
