kitchen to go is back!
Find your inner baba with Kitchen to Go Wednesday night dinners. Tonight it’s Ukrainian meatballs with wild mushroom sauce, varenyky and nalysnyky (order by noon). See all the menus for the month here. Friday soup and a bagel continues the Ukrainian deliciousness theme (dill pickle, mushroom and barley, borscht) and don’t forget to get extra bagels as Saturday is National Bagel Day! Woo hoo!
dine chartier open now!
Chartier, our fave resto in Beaumont, is back after the holiday break. Every Wednesday is fish and chips day for takeout and dine in. There is a GF version available too. If that’s not crazy enough, they also offer tourtière on the pantry menu. The classic Quebecois meat pie, made with Four Whistle Farm duck, Thundering Ground bison and Irvings Farm pork is top notch. We can think of nothing better for a winter picnic, now that it’s warm enough to be outside. Order here.

julie van rosendaal will extend her kids cooking club
Julie van Rosendaal made waves across the country for her impromptu zoom kids cooking club last week. Not only were the classes free, they rescued kids and their parents from a week of boredom during the deep freeze. Want to continue the fun? Sign up for the newsletter to receive all the recipes and zoom links for upcoming weekend or weeknight club dates. For the enthusiasm and generosity Julie has demonstrated throughout her career, we think Julie should get the Order of Canada.

There are many tasty items on the Japonais menu, but votes couldn’t get enough of the pressed salmon roll in 2020.
sober curious?
Having a Dry January? The days of just fruit juice and tea only are long gone. Enter the Leitz Zero Riesling. Well balanced, definite Riesling character, sprightly acidity, it was ideal with Ukrainian Christmas dishes. And no alcohol. A miracle? Maybe. It’s a winner for sure. Find at Color de Vino, Sherbrooke, Bin 104, Highlander and Crestwood Wines.
june’s delicatessen last day is this sunday
We’ll miss the casual atmosphere and smoked meat beef sammies. We wish the group good luck with future projects and can’t wait to see what comes up in the spring.
