Remember the Eats on 118 Dining Tours? Now it’s called Dine The Ave and it’s happening from June 17-23. Alberta Avenue’s dining week showcases the deliciously diverse cultures of 118 Avenue. Participating restaurants will have special menus, 10, $15 and $20. Restaurants include the Green Onion Cake Man, Passion de France and Simba’s Den Pub & Bistro. The Porkapalooza BBQ Festival returns for its sixth Father’s Day weekend at the Expo Centre. The main attraction is the KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned competition, and this year, Porkapalooza aims to the biggest competition in Canada. Add guided tours of the competition area, cooking demos on the food stage, the craft station in the kid’s zone, and the beer garden with entertainment and your Dad will think he has died and gone to BBQ heaven. Saturday, June 15,11am-11pm and Sunday, June16 until 7pm, at the Expo Centre (7515 118 Avenue). Entry is free but bring some cash for the food trucks. All the competition aromas will make you hungry!
