make some fudge for halloween
Madam Benoit was a Canadian cooking legend. This fudge recipe is typical of her approach, an old school Quebecois dish, easy to make, using everyday ingredients. A treat!
tomatotop100: tumbler & rocks cocktails
We love these cocktails made by the Fort Distillery—as good as something we would make ourselves and oh so handy. Try the Maple Gin or Classic Old Fashioned, the Cosmo (vodka, cranberry citrus), the Daiquiri and the Shaft (vodka cold brew), especially great with milk or cream on the rocks as a brunch cocktail. Available at better wine shops and liquor stores.
spooky trolley ride? yes!
Hear Old Strathcona’s and Edmonton’s spookiest ghost stories—the ghosts of the Arts Barns, and from the construction of the High Level Bridge while taking the historical trolley. Maybe it’s haunted too? October 27-31, tickets start at $43.45.

blind enthusiasm new collab
Blind Enthusiasm has brewed a toothsome dark wheat ale with a surprize ingredient. Spruce tips. The tips add a herbaceous sweetness that marry perfectly with the spice and banana notes of the dark wheat ale. And what’s more Canadian than spruce trees? Mitts! On Saturday November 6, they launch a beer plus mitts combo at the Biera Market, in collaboration with apparel company Flannel Foxes. For every pair of mitts sold, Flannel Foxes will donate mittens to the Bissel Centre. Everybody gets warm hands this year. To get your mitts on their mitts and some beer visit here.
