During the Fringe The Grindstone Theatre and Bistro (10019 81 Avenue, 780-244-9076, https://www.grindstonetheatre.ca) has extended hours— it’s open for lunch, dinner and late-night snacks. They have a host of shows starting as early as 1:00pm and the nightly L’After show at 12:15am—and there’s no need to scramble, they have a Fringe box office at their venue.

Head to the Green and Gold Market (University of Alberta South Campus, www.greengoldgarden.com) a little early this Saturday for a drop-in Nordic walking session, led by urban polling instructor Lisa Workman at 10am, $10/p. The walk is in support of Rwandan women and the Tubahumarize Association. Bring your own poles or borrow a pair from the garden. Then, pick up some lovely home-grown carrots, squash, cucumbers or Evans cherries, Green & Gold is open 11am-1pm.

La Boule Patisserie and Bakery (8020 101 Street, 780-760-2253, http://laboulebakery.ca) now offers coffee from their neighbor down the street, ACE Coffee. They have also increased the selection of breads to purchase. We saw a fruit loaf and a chocolate cherry loaf along with their regular boule with the toothsome crispy crust.

Enjoy the tail end of summer with an outdoor cooking class taught by chef Kaelin Whittaker (Ruby Apron) at Grey Arrow Farm (48037 Range Road 205, Camrose County) on Saturday, August 25, 12pm, Kaelin will teach guests how to make a number of flavourful dishes from the farm’s vegetable garden. Sit around the farm table, cocktail in hand and chat with Kaelin as she cooks. Plus, each person will be sent home with a pack of veggie recipes.
