the wine lovers advent calendar
Color de Vino has created five different Advent Calendars for the wine obsessed. The wines (750 mL reds, whites, dry rose and a bubbly) come in a cool custom box in either 12 or 24 bottles. Prices range from $325 for a 12 Days of Christmas (12 bottles) box to $850 for a premium 24 bottle box. There is also a “natural” 12 bottle box ($400). All of the wines are the usual Color de Vino quality—small production wines from family-owned vineyards with good farming practices. Some of the wines have limited availability and were chosen specifically for the Advent boxes. This is an excellent way to start a cellar, or, to have a good bottle on hand during the holidays. last chance for green & gold craft sales
The Green & Gold Garden raised $46,775 for the Tubahumurize organization, which is the highest amount raised since the Garden started in 2009. Help them hit $50,000 this year by looking for the beautiful Tubahumurize Rwandan crafts at two sales: Agric. Forestry Centre, (U of A campus, north of SUB) main floor near the elevators, on Friday, November 30 from 11:30am-1:30pm and at the Belgravia Community Hall (11540 73 Avenue) on Thursday, December 6, from 7-9pm.

christmas cocktails
From now until Christmas we will feature a smart cocktail to try this season. The first cocktail is the Pasa-Doble, a twist on the classic Old Fashioned, from Macallan.
1⅓ oz. The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old
½ oz. Amontillado Sherry
pinch smoked salt
drizzle Canadian maple syrup
Add all ingredients and ice to a mixing glass. Stir gently for 10 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass.
Serves 1.
