the christmas turkey round up
Cooking a flavourful and moist turkey is much easier when you start with an excellent home-grown bird. Several area farms—Sunworks, Four Whistle, First Nature and Sunshine Organics raise turkeys for the holidays. Sunworks turkeys need to be ordered by December 17, call 1-877-393-3133 or visit https://www.sunworksfarm.com. Best to email Sunshine Organics at sunorg@telusplanet.net or call 780-446-4685, and pick up at their market stand in City Hall on Saturday. Visit First Nature Farms or Four Whistle at their booths at the Old Strathcona Market this Saturday to place an order.

holiday cookie number three: tracy’s marble chocolate almond bark
Chef Tracy Zizek of Kitchen by Brad loves to make this versatile almond bark for Christmas. Remember to use best quality chocolate (chocolate chips won’t do). We like the bittersweet and white chocolate slabs available at Cococo. And, Tracy’s recipe includes a simple way to temper the chocolate.
