An alien to this planet would think we live on sweets and pasta, as they dominate the Top 100 again for the third year. On the flip side, we are seeing more votes for primary producers — one of our favourites this year was the tweet that recommended the honey crisp apple, to our way of thinking a very good thing. Top dishes come from great raw material and we won’t keep good producers in business unless we purchase their products.

A few trends noted: less Asian on the list this year but we remain loyal to our pho; cauliflower is the new kale; and we love our sweets — there were more nominations for cookies than anything else. But, we noticed that several came from the same addresses 😉
There were votes for the Carvery’s black bean soup, Pharo’s pizza, and the delicious and long-lamented stuffed radicchio from Il Portico. A Thorhild reader reminisced about her family’s buckwheat pie, an essential element of Alberta’s culinary history.
