500 ml | pomegranate juice |
25 g | light brown sugar |
handful | frozen blackberries |
250 ml | apple juice |
1 stick | cinnamon |
1 | star anise |
4 | cloves |
3 | black peppercorns |
1 | orange, quartered |
1 T | balsamic vinegar, or to taste (optional) |
Put all ingredients but the vinegar into a saucepan. Heat gently until simmering. Add balsamic if using, taste for sweetness, then strain into heatproof glasses.
