Our Food Community Stands With Ukraine

Edmonton’s food community has stepped up for Ukraine. The fundraiser dinner this Sunday, organized by Jimmy Shewchuk, Brad Smoliak and Steve Buzak, sold out within a few hours.

Confetti Sweet’s Cookie for UkraineConfetti Sweet’s Cookie for Ukraine has already raised $20,000 for the Canada Ukraine Foundation. “We’re running short of the blue and yellow sprinkles,” says owner Kathy Lescow. “We encourage people to pick up the Ukrainian-themed gift certificate ($17.50) instead.” Pick up at the store in Sherwood Park only, call to order. “I’m Ukrainian and over half of our staff are Ukrainian. We were in the office thinking, we should do something with cookies, maybe we’ll raise $1000,” says Kathy. “We did $1000 in our first hour. It’s gratifying, for me personally, that this little cookie shop can do good for people across the world.”
